Endorsements from former City Council District 3 candidates

Gen. Bill Lawson, Ret.

I was a candidate in the recent election for Fort Worth City Council, District Three, and along with Brenda Silcox and most of my fellow former candidates; I am endorsing Zim Zimmerman in the runoff election.

Zim has the desire to continue serving the city as a councilman as he did on a city board and the community with charities and as past president of a home owners association. He has the time. Most important, he has the leadership, management, and in these difficult times, budget skills to do this important job. Join me on June 13th in voting for Zim Zimmerman for District Three City Councilman.

Zim has proven to me he will be the independent voice for our neighborhoods that we need.  He has no allegiances to anyone except the constituents of District 3.

Zim's support has come from local believers in his desire to serve us, not from Washington, not from Austin and not from those with special interests in our city.  Vote for the strong independent voice of the people that District 3 constituents are use to having on City Council.

Vote to carry on the legacy of a strong and fiscally responsible District 3 representation.   Vote for Zim Zimmerman.

Brenda Silcox

Wife of former District 3 representative,

Chuck Silcox

Senior Administrative Assistant

I am endorsing Zim Zimmerman because he is the ONLY candidate in the runoff who is prepared to be on call seven days a week and 24 hours a day to provide the same selfless hard work and responsiveness that Chuck felt the city council position demanded.

I am also endorsing Zim Zimmerman because like Chuck [Silcox], Zim will be an independent voice who is free to speak out for City Council District 3 on all issues.

With this in mind, our family proudly recommends Zim Zimmerman as the best candidate to fill Chuck's shoes on the Fort Worth City Council.

When I covered City Hall, I saw the good and the not-so-good on city council.  Over time you could separate the real leaders from the pretenders.  I’ve known Zim Zimmerman for years.  I met him at my church where he was an elder.

I’ve admired his work at Lockheed handling the difficult assignments of supporting the F-16.  Even more, I admired his involvement in the United Way program where he showed me that he really cared about needy people.  From what I can see, he’ll be a real leader.  We could use him at City Hall.  He’s got my vote.

I've known Zim for over 30 years. I've served with him on several boards and committees including the Fort Worth Board of Adjustment.

Zim always does his homework and is fair and reasonable in his decisions.

Zim's the kind of guy that dominates a room when he arrives. But, he is also able to listen to what others say. Though he may disagree, he is tolerant of others' viewpoints and uses persuasion effectively. He is a admirable combination of successful businessman and active volunteer in church, civic and charity events. Zim would be a great addition to our city's leadership.

Sales & Marketing VP

Some folks run for office because they have an agenda and seek power to implement their plan. Zim’s motivation comes from a desire to serve – to make a difference. He’s an independent who’ll be a great voice for the citizens of Fort Worth. We need common sense servant leadership. That’s why I support Zim.

It is unusual to find an individual with the strength of character that Zim possess. His experience in senior management is an asset for our city government. Zim has had management responsibility for thousands employees at Lockheed Martin as well as the associated budgetary responsibility. This ability is of paramount importance to bring fiscal controls and problem solving to City Council.

Zim and I have served on committees together. I like the way he listens, asks good questions, and then rolls up his sleeves to get the hard work done. No job is beneath him. Zim is also a people person. When you combine the qualities with the time he has available for the job, his service on the City’s Board of Adjustment, and his leadership at Lockheed, the end result is a person I am proud to recommend as our next City Council member for District 3.
